How to create a system repair disc in Windows 7

Note: You will require a DVD writer and a blank DVD. Microsoft only supports creating a system repair disc on DVD. However there is an unsupported method to create a system repair disk on a USB drive.

Start with the blank DVD in the DVD writer.

1. Click: Start

2. Click: Control Panel

3a. Click: Back up your computer (if Control Panel is set to: category)

3b. Click: Backup and Restore (if Control Panel is set to: icons)

4. Click: Create a system repair disc

5. Click: Create disc

6. Click the red X in the AutoPlay window.

7. Click: [Close]

7. Click: [OK]

8. Remove the DVD and label it.
