On the new computer:

- Click: An external hard drive or USB flash drive
- Click: This is my new computer
- Click: Yes
- Click: Network
- Click: Click to change (if File Sharing is turned off)
- Click: Turn on the network discovery and file sharing
- Select the device where you stored the user accounts in Part 2
- Select the location where you stored the user accounts in Part 2
- Select the file where you stored the user accounts in Part 2
- Click: Open
- Enter the password (if required)
- Click: Next

- Customize the filename (optional)

Create a new administrator account
- For this tutorial we will use a shared network drive, but a portable hard drive could also be used.
On the old computer:
- Click: Start
- Click: Control Panel
- a. Click: Add or remove user accounts (if Control Panel is set to Category Mode)
b. Click: User Accounts (if Control Panel is set to Icon Mode)
c. Click: Manage another account (if Control Panel is set to Icon Mode) - Click: Create a new account
- Type: Transfer Admin
- Click: Administrator
- Click: Create Account
- Click: Start
- Click the right-arrow next to: Shut down
- Click: Log off
- Log in to: Transfer Admin
- Proceed to Part 2

- Select the device where you stored the user accounts
- Select the folder where you store the user accounts
- Select the file where you stored the user accounts
- Click: Open
- Enter the password you created earlier (if necessary)
- Click: Next
- Click: Transfer
- Wait for the process to complete
- Click: Close
- Click: Restart now

On the old (Windows XP) computer:
- Click: Start
- Click: My Computer
- Find the location where you stored Windows Easy Transfer in Part 1
- Double-click: Windows Easy Transfer
- Click: Run
- Wait for the process to begin
- Click: Next
- Click: An external hard disk or USB flash drive
- Click: This is my old computer
- Wait for the process to complete
- Uncheck: Transfer Admin
- Click: Next
- Add and confirm a password (optional)
- Click: Save
- Chose a network or external drive to store the backed up user accounts
- Customize the filename (optional)
- Click: Save
- Wait for the process to complete
- Click: Next
- Click: Next
- Click: Close

How to transfer user accounts from Windows XP to Windows 7, Part 2
Create a new administrator account

On the old (Windows XP) computer:
- Click: Start
- Click: Control Panel
- a. Click: User Accounts (if Control Panel is set to Category View)
b. Double-click: User Accounts (if Control Panel is set to Classic View) - Click: Create a new account
- Name the account: Transfer Admin
- Click: Next
- Select: Computer administrator
- Click: Create Account
- Click: Start
- Click: Log Off
- Click: Log Off
- Log in as Transfer Admin and proceed to Part 3
